Mokah Johnson Issues Statement on Georgia’s Six-week Abortion Ban

Athens, GA, July 21, 2022 – Mokah Jasmine Johnson, candidate for the Georgia House of Representatives in District 120, is deeply disappointed by the news that Georgia Republicans’ six-week abortion ban will become law following yesterday’s ruling by the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

“It has become clear who stands on the side of freedom and who does not,” says Johnson. “My opponent was a key architect of this draconian law which makes Georgia one of the most dangerous places for women in the entire country.”

“As long as the Supreme Court has made it so that we are left to fend for ourselves at the state level, Georgia needs someone for whom freedom and family are guiding principles,” says Johnson. “My opponent’s dangerous six-week ban proves that freedom and family simply are not his values. Georgians in Jackson, Barrow, Oconee and Clarke Counties are not in good hands. I worry at just how unsafe my opponent will make it for us.”

Johnson is the mother of seven children with her husband Knowa, and she is the proud “glam-ma” of ten grandchildren.
