Enough is Enough!

June 8, 2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ATHENS—This Saturday, Athens will join more than 450 cities across the country to March For Our Lives. At least 45 states and several countries will gather and march together for gun safety.

Athens March for Our Lives Day of Action is being coordinated by Mokah for Georgia and begins at 1 pm, June 11, at City Hall, 301 College Ave. The event includes a short rally followed by the march.

Mokah Jasmine Johnson, who is running for GA House District 120, summarizes many of her constituents’ responses to the killing of children and adults alike: “Enough is enough. Not one more life should be lost to preventable gun violence.”

Johnson says she will eliminate conditions that allow for the scale of gun violence that our communities experience.

At least 246 mass shootings have been reported through June 5 this year—the same number America saw through June 5 in 2021—the worst year on record since the Gun Violence Archive began tracking mass shootings in 2014. There have been more mass shootings than days so far in 2022—a trend that's recurred each year since 2020.

After the march, Mokah for Georgia’s field team will head to Nicholson GA in Jackson County (about 20 minutes from Athens) to meet residents and discuss gun safety. Transportation will be provided. Click here to sign up!

Please contact Mokah for Georgia field team (field@mokahforgeorgia.com) to learn more about the Jackson County canvassing.

March for Our Lives was started in 2018 by a student who survived the Parkland School shootings. The annual march helps mobilize gun-violence protesters around the globe.
