Freedom is our human ability to plan for life and to make those plans a reality without anything standing in our way. To be free, we need an enriching and accessible educational system for all children, secure jobs at thriving wages for every worker, economic opportunities for every small business, a good place to live and invest wealth for every family, and the best healthcare for every person.
FREEDOM. “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of property.” We hear this all the time. But what does this actually mean for people like you and me? How does this translate into good public policies for all Georgians?
Freedom is our human ability to plan for life and to make those plans a reality without anything standing in our way. To thrive, we need an enriching and accessible educational system for all children, secure jobs at livable wages for every worker, economic opportunities for every small business, a good place to live for every family, and the best healthcare for every person.
This is THE FREEDOM PLAN: Fully funded education, economic recovery, and human rights!
As an educator and GED instructor, fully funded education is at the core of my policy making agenda. As your representative, I will push to:
Fully fund Public School Employee Retirement System (PSERS) for bus drivers/monitors, custodians, maintenance and janitorial employees
Provide targeted educational funding and policies to lift up schools in Georgia’s Black Belt
Expand K-12 Restorative Justice programs to cultivate safe and healing learning environments for Georgia’s students
As a small business owner who cares deeply about all workers, my top legislative priority is economic recovery through job creation at thriving wages. As your representative, I will fight to:
Utilize a portion of Georgia’s massive $3.7 billion budget surplus to create targeted payroll tax credit programs for small businesses to pay thriving wages
Pass legislation that establishes an annual cost of living adjustment (COLA) on wages, pensions, and benefits for all public employees in order to keep up with inflation
No one is free until we are all free. Part of protecting your freedom and respecting your voice requires securing human rights for all Georgians. As your representative, I will advocate for:
Your right to build wealth through affordable homeownership by increasing funding for the Georgia Dream Homeownership Program
Your right to maternal health and safety through strong policies that directly address Georgia’s dangerous maternal mortality rate by fully funding rural health care expansion, Medicaid expansion, and mandatory insurance coverage for midwives and doulas
Your right to protest and criticize the government by opposing SB 171 which criminalizes protesting and protects people who harm protestors
Today, too many circumstances and people in power stand in our way. This is why we are not yet fully free. Our schools, especially in Black and Brown communities, are underfunded and struggle to meet basic educational standards. The COVID pandemic revealed more than ever that Georgia’s minimum wage—$7.25—is nothing but a poverty wage. Small businesses can’t keep up with large corporations. And powerful special interest groups are trampling our constitutional right to hold the government accountable.
We all deserve to live freely and fully. As your representative for Georgia HD 120, I will protect that. I will fight for it. Enrich it. Invest in it. So that together, we may all thrive!
For our prosperous future,
